Volunteering, either remotely or in-country, builds critical skills for a career in international agricultural research for development.

Hear from our amazing panel of experts:

NGUYEN NGA – ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, VNUA
Nga works in the Faculty of Economics and Rural Development and completed her postgraduate degrees in the Philippines. Her research interests include agricultural value chains, and many more. She works with international organisations on numerous value chains.

ELEANOR DEAN – ACIAR GENERAL MANAGER, OUTREACH AND CAPACITY
Eleanor leads the communication function, and the education and training programs. With a first class honours degree in Communication she has extensive experience and has worked in the Australian Government for over 26 years.

HANH HOANG – VIETNAM RECRUITMENT OFFICER, AUSTRALIAN VOLUNTEERS PROGRAM
Hanh has extensive experience in partnership development and volunteer recruitment. She’s also worked in rural development support projects in North and Central Vietnam. A highlight is watching the volunteers and partner organisation’s journey and the differences they make together.

JAY ANDERSON – PLANT PATHOLOGIST & RETURNED VOLUNTEER
Jay has worked on diseases of tropical and subtropical horticulture crops for over 15 years. An absolute career highlight was her six weeks volunteering in Lao PDR. Working with local and Crawford Fund colleagues, she looked at banana leaf diseases on small holder farms, learning and sharing about much more.

ROBBIE MITCHELL – SCIENCE COMMUNICATIONS
Robbie helps people understand and appreciate science and technology a little better through social and digital media.
