Venue: The Exhibition Space, Chemistry Building, Curtin University
Crawford Fund WA and RAID Network WA, in collaboration with Curtin University, will be hosting a networking event for early career researchers and students. This event aims to raise awareness of the Crawford Fund Student Awards, the new Crawford Fund Henzell Awards (applications close for both on 12 May 2025) and conference scholarships.
There will be presentations on the 2024 Crawford Fund Conference by three conference scholars, Chaiyya Cooper, Sudarshan Kharel and Jane Brownlee, as well as insights on current ACIAR and Crawford Fund supported research projects by Ed Barrett-Lennard and Barb Howard.
Professor Ed Barrett-Lennard has had a long history in the Department of Agriculture and now DPIRD working on production from salt affected and sodic soils. However, he has also had the opportunity of working in ACIAR funded research projects in developing countries as a saline agriculturalist. Currently a part-time Professorial Fellow at Murdoch University, he is a team member in ACIAR projects that all have a ‘living with salinity’ focus in Bangladesh, West Bengal, Pakistan and Vietnam. Ed operates in the intersection between agronomy, soil science and plant physiology.
