Agricultural Development in East Indonesia
Are you interested in applying your skills and gaining experience in agricultural development projects in Eastern Indonesia? The Nusa Tenggara Association – East Indonesian Aid sponsors income generating and subsistence agricultural projects on the islands of Flores, Semau and Timor in Eastern Indonesia. These projects include livestock fattening and breeding, development of seaweed, cocoa and vegetable farming and providing water sources and irrigation infrastructure. The NTA works closely with the provincial institute of agricultural research in Nusa Tenggara Timur to provide training and extension to farmer cooperatives in the region.
The NTA undertakes two monitoring trips a year to evaluate projects and facilitate a musyawarah – a community consensus meeting in each region to determine funding priorities for the following semester.
You can assist the NTA to continue to help farmers in NTT by:
1. Promoting the NTA and its projects in your organisation or university
2. Joining the NTA’s Operations Committee and providing your expert advice on agricultural projects
3. Attending monitoring visits and undertaking expert evaluations of projects
4. Organising fundraising events in your area OR
5. Donating to the NTA
